Confectionery & Chocolate Packing Solutions

Bars, pralines and single-serve candy — conveyed gently into the wrap, sealed within strict thermal limits that protect product temper.

Why Flow Wrapping for Confectionery & Chocolate

Confectionery is where horizontal flow wrapping earned its reputation — uniform, fragile, high-value pieces moved by conveyor, never dropped.

Convey, Don't Drop

Bars and pralines reach the film on a conveyor and leave it sealed — no drops, no crushing, no rejects turned to fines.

Heat-Sensitive Sealing

Chocolate punishes temperature spikes. Controlled sealing holds dwell and temperature steady through acceleration instead of scorching the edge.

A Sachet per Praline

Dose-sized pieces get their own 4-side-seal pack — countable, giftable, portion-exact. Single-serve sealed sachets are established at retail — Pop Rocks has sold the format for decades.

The Wrapper Is the Shelf Pack

Print-registered film is the pack and the label in one. Registration and seal quality are what the customer sees first.

Uniform Products, Fast Lines

Consistent product geometry is what makes high-speed wrapping possible — spacing, film feed and cut stay repeatable piece after piece. The Ritter Sport square — packaged in a mono-PP flow-wrapped pillow pack since 1991 — is the classic proof that distinct geometries run reliably at production speed.

Complete the Line — cartoning, blister and sleeving

Cartoning, blister packing and bag sleeving machines that pair with the packers above — one line, one engineering standard.

How to Choose a Confectionery Packing Machine

Seven decisions frame the specification. Work them in order and the machine ends up matched to your product — not the other way around.

1. Product Type

Bar, praline, dose candy or mixed count. Fragility and cocoa content drive handling and sealing spec.

2. Throughput

Match packs/min to piece weight and infeed spacing. High-count dose lines justify servo class.

3. Film Material

Print-registered foils and cold-seal laminates are standard. Cocoa fat demands grease-resistant structures. For high-fat chocolate, cold-seal cohesive film and low contact pressure keep seal heat off the edges — radiant heat is what melts edges and drives fat bloom.

4. Seal Technology

Cold-seal or low-temperature sealing protects temper; parameters must be validated with your specific film at line speed.

5. Package Format

Single bars, counted pralines in one pillow pack, or a sachet per piece. Format drives infeed and cut pattern.

6. Hygiene and Food Contact

Food-contact film and food-grade construction. Confirm target-market rules early.

7. Configuration and Delivery

Foil registration and gentle infeed work extends delivery. Lock the format range before peak season.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is flow wrapping suitable for chocolate bars and pralines?

Yes — confectionery is the classic HFFS case. Pieces are conveyed into the film, wrapped and sealed without drops; heat sensitivity makes controlled sealing the focus.

Can pralines be packed individually?

Yes — dose formats seal as individual 4-side-seal sachets, countable and portion-exact, alongside pillow packs for bars.

Does heat from sealing damage chocolate?

It can if sealing is crude. Controlled sealing holds temperature and dwell steady through speed changes — the reason sealing gets validated with the actual product, not assumed.

What speeds are available for confectionery packing?

Configurations for this format span our full flow-wrapping range — 5 to 300 packs/min. The right class depends on your product, film and format; match speed to what your line actually sustains, not the headline number.

Why Path Pack

We start with the product, not the machine. Every project runs through the same nine-step engineering process — product, format, film, speed, feeding, sealing, structure, integration, testing — before a configuration is quoted.
Your chocolate runs on real machines with your film at your target speed before anything ships. Sealing parameters for heat-sensitive product are exactly what the test run is for.
Evaluate your requirements with our online tools: the machine finder and bag calculator narrow the configuration before you ever talk to us.
